Did you know that English Heritage is taking part in National Lottery Open Week in March? This means you can visit many of selected sites for free on the 22nd and 23rd March 2025. Just bring a National Lottery ticket (the date of draw / purchase is not relevant) to get free entry for one adult and up to two children. No pre-booking is needed.

 

Below is the comprehensive list of dog-friendly English Heritage sites you can visit for free on the 22nd – 23rd March:

 

1. Audley End House and Gardens in Essex, CB11 4JF

Dogs on leads are allowed in the grounds. 

 

2. Belsay Hall, Castle and Gardens in Northumberland, NE20 0DX

Dogs on leads are allowed in the grounds. No dogs allowed in the hall or castle.

 

3. Carlisle Castle in Cumbria, CA3 8UR

Dogs on leads are welcome but are not allowed in the new exhibition or Military Museum.

 

4. Dover Castle in Kent, CT16 1HU

Dogs are allowed in the grounds, but not inside the castle buildings.

 

5. Framlingham Castle in Suffolk, IP13 9BP

Dogs on leads permitted in the grounds and the castle, except the cafe counter.

 

6. Furness Abbey in Cumbria, LA13 0PJ

Dogs on leads are allowed.

 

7. Kenilworth Castle and Elizabethan Garden in Warwickshire, CV8 1NG

Dogs on leads are allowed.

 

8. Osborne, Isle of Wight, PO32 6JX

Dogs are welcome in the grounds of Osborne, including the formal gardens.

 

9. Pendennis Castle in Cornwall, TR11 4NQ

All dogs on a lead are welcome including inside the buildings and around the grounds. There is also outside seating at the cafe.

 

10. Richborough Roman Fort and Amphitheatre in Kent, CT13 9JW

Dogs on leads are welcome in all outdoor areas. However, we recommend checking the amphitheatre field for farm animals before entering with your dog. If there are animals in the field, we advise against entering with a dog.

 

11. Witley Court and Gardens in Worcestershire, WR6 6JT

Dogs on leads are allowed.

 

12. Wrest Park in Bedfordshire, MK45 4HR 

Dogs allowed on leads in the grounds.
