Dog-friendly hotel

De Vere Cotswold Water Park Hotel, a dog-friendly 4-star hotel in the heart of nature in Gloucestershire.

Address: Lake 6, South Cerney, Gloucestershire. Post Code. GL7 5FP.

Located within the stunning Cotswold Water Park nature reserve, this dog-friendly hotel blends natural beauty with modern comfort, making it an ideal destination for a dog-friendly staycation. It is also a perfect base for exploring the Cotswolds. Cirencester, a lovely market town, known as the capital of the Cotswolds, is a 10-minute drive from the hotel. Walking routes are available right on the doorstep, and a range of other nearby activities can be enjoyed, including watersports and cycling.

De Vere Cotswold Water Park Hotel, built in 2007, is part of the well-known De Vere hotel group. This was our second time staying at a De Vere property, and once again, it was a lovely and memorable experience. A peaceful, relaxing atmosphere for both humans and hounds. Although, if you’re seeking total seclusion, keep in mind that De Vere Cotswold Water Park is also a vibrant venue for weddings and conferences. It means the vibe can shift from tranquil to lively, especially on weekends.

Some rooms overlook the lake and have private balconies or offer access to a communal decking area with chairs. In total, there are 328 rooms including standard double & twin rooms, deluxe rooms, suites and holiday apartments. We stayed in a room with direct access to the decking area, which is really convenient if you have a dog or want to relax with a glass of wine in the evening. Rooms are large, so we were able to bring Winnie’s cage for his night sleep.

During your stay, you can book some treatment at Spa 6 which also gives you free access to the spa pool, sauna and steam room. However, if you want to use the spa pool only, be prepared to pay an extra £10 to reserve a slot (which, in our opinion, should normally be free).

The dining facilities at the De Vere Cotswold Water Park Hotel are also of a commendable standard. Overlooking the lake, the on-site Brasserie restaurant serves local produce on both the breakfast and evening menu. The breakfast selection is sure to satisfy even the most discerning guests, offering an excellent and wide variety that includes a full English breakfast, an array of pastries, fresh fruits, yoghurts, cereals and much more. We also enjoyed dining at the bar of Brasserie restaurant, where dogs are welcome.

What makes this hotel truly special? It’s the feeling of being immersed in nature. You don’t even need to leave the building to experience it — we watched a pair of swans building a nest for their cygnets right below our window, can you imagine? The peaceful setting, surrounded by water and wildlife, creates a unique sense of calm and connection with the natural world.

Dogs at De Vere Cotswold Water Park Hotel

Dogs are truly welcomed almost everywhere at the hotel, only excluding the main restaurant. Although, there is a dedicated bar area for breakfast and dinner where dogs are allowed.

Pooches will be treated with their own bowl, bed and a towel, priced from £30 per dog, per stay. Unfortunately, there were no doggy treats or poo bags in the room. For muddy paws there is a dog-wash station outside.

Ample parking is free for guests.
