Although we prefer to stay with Winnie in historic hotels with character features, the modern Eastwood Hall pleasantly surprised us. Eastwood Hall, a dog-friendly 4-star hotel in Nottinghamshire, offers a lovely mix of comfort and modernity. This is a good option for those who are looking not only for a stay in lovely settings but also want to have access to leisure facilities, extensive picturesque grounds and, possibly, conference facilities.

The location of the hotel deserves special attention. Eastwood Hall is just a short drive away from Nottingham and a 10-minute walk from the town of Eastwood. Eastwood is the birthplace of D.H. Lawrence, a famous English novelist, best known for his novel Lady Chatterley’s Lover. The book was firstpublished privately in Italy in 1928 and then was banned in many countries because of the use of explicit language and sexual scenes. The full text was published in the UK only in 1960.

Eastwood Hall was built in 1810 and first was a family home, then a headquarters of the National Coal Board. Now it is a hotel and part of the Venues Collection that runs five contemporary and historic conference and business hotels across the UK. Twenty six acres of landscaped grounds, ideal for morning and evening walks with your dog. Well-equipped fitness centre, decent size swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna. Outdoor tennis court. All these facilities are intended to make your stay relaxed and comfortable.

We booked a Standard Double Room which was spacious, with a comfortable king-size bed. We were glad to see that the hotel offers our required essentials like a safe and an ironing board in every room (unfortunately, not every 4-star hotel follows these standards). Our dog-friendly room also had very easy access to the outside area, which is important for dog owners. Do we recommend the hotel to stay with a dog? Yes!
