1. Start your day at the Visitor Information Centre.

Nestled between Lincoln Castle and Lincoln Cathedral, the Visitor Information Centre is located in one of the oldest buildings in Lincoln, Leigh-Pemberton House. The house was built in 1543 and originally it was a merchant’s house. Later, it was given to the city by the Chairman of the National Westminster Bank, Sir Robin Leigh-Pemberton. The staff of the Visitor Information Centre will provide you with a printed list of dog-friendly places in Lincoln (what a pawfect idea!), a free map and leaflets.

2. Take a step back in time at Lincoln Cathedral, the fourth largest cathedral in the UK.

The construction of Lincoln Cathedral, a magnificent Gothic-style building, started in 1072. Since its construction, Lincoln Cathedral needed to be restored and rebuilt several times due to a number of disasters, like a fire or an earthquake. This is hard to believe now, but Lincoln Cathedral was the tallest building in the world for 238 years.

3. Visit Lincoln Castle, home to one of only four surviving copies of Magna Carta.

Lincoln Castle is dating back to 1068, and it was built by William the Conqueror, on the site of the Roman fortress. The castle is now owned by Lincolnshire County Council. The original 1215 Magna Carta is kept now at Lincoln Castle. Normally, dogs are not allowed to be at Lincoln Castle. But there are some dog-friendly days once a month:

18th – 19th March 2023;
27th – 28th May 2023;
