Milldale and Dovedale, an easy and relaxing walk through the Peak District.

Address: Derbyshire.

We started our short walk at Milldale, one of the prettiest villages in the Peak District. This is a tiny village with a dozen of stone cottages, dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries. Our favorite is the Duck Cottage, named after the ducks which swim on the river Dove.

Follow the path, which is obvious and well maintained, with the river Dove on your right. Soon after, you will see two caves known as the Dove Holes. Keep walking along the route and close to the car park at Dovedale you will see the most iconic part of the trip – Stepping Stones. That spot is always crowded, so it can be a small queue to cross the river. Enjoy the view, take pictures and then walk back to Milldale, where you can eat hot soup at Polly’s Cottage, a takeaway coffee shop.
