Tissington, a historic village in the heart of Derbyshire.
Address: near Ashbourne, Derbyshire.

It’s hard to resist the charm of small and pretty Derbyshire villages. They are brimming with character and beauty at every turn. At this time we invite you and your four-legged friend to walk around the picture perfect Tissington, a tiny village near the market town of Ashbourne.

Tissington has been the estate village of the FitzHerbert family since the 1460s. In the heart of the village stands a bit gloomy and mysterious Tissington hall, built by Francis FitzHerbert in 1609. A very interesting fact that Tissington hall still remains in the hands of the same family, the FitzHerbert. This is for over 400 years now, so amazing! Sir Richard FitzHerbert inherited the estate and hall in 1989, where he lives with his wife, six dogs and two cats.

Walking around that tiny village, you will see plenty of interesting features and places to discover. A duck pond in the center of the village. Five wells (like Hands Well or Town Well), that will be nicely decorated during the famous Well Dressing Week in May. The church of St Mary. Absolutely unique Tissington Craft shop (dog-friendly, by the way). The village also gives its name to the Tissington Trail, a traffic-free trail that runs for 13 miles, ideal for walkers and cyclists.
