Trebah Garden, a dog friendly sub-tropical heaven in Cornwall.
Address: Mawnan Smith, Near Falmouth, Cornwall, TR11 5JZ.
Being in Cornwall, don’t miss the opportunity to visit Trebah Garden, a dog friendly sub-tropical heaven near Falmouth. Did you know that 9,057 dogs were welcomed with open arms in Trebah Garden last year?
Trebah Garden is related to the Fox family. Charles Fox (1797-1878) and Sarah Fox (1800-1882) bought Trebah in 1838 for £4,375 with the intention to create pleasure gardens, full of exotic plants. The influential family of Falmouth owned Trebah Garden for 40 years (1838-1878) and made an enormous contribution to how it looks today. In 1990, ownership of Trebah Garden was given to Trebah Garden Trust.
Trebah Garden is famous for its excellent collection of plants. ‘Elephant’s Rhubarb’ with enormous leaves, 100-year-old rhododendrons, colourful Hydrangea Valley that reminds of Claude Monet’s painting, and 50 different varieties of bamboos. But the most iconic place in Trebah is the Mallard Pond, with the small bridge painted blue. Walk through the garden a bit further and you will see a very nice and secluded beach. If you don’t want to swim, just stay there for a few minutes, enjoy the view, and order a cup of coffee or an ice cream.
