What a great day we had in Bath on 12 September 2026! We went to the Jane Austen Festival and, honestly, Bath looked like it had stepped straight into a Jane Austen novel. The highlight was the Grand Regency Costumed Promenade, with an incredible 2,200 people coming from far and wide to take part. For a few hours, Bath was basically one giant living period drama.

And, of course, I couldn’t not mention the most important part for us – it was very dog-friendly! Some four-legged visitors even joined the parade in their own Regency outfits, which was absolutely adorable.

A brilliant day out in one of our favourite cities. And definitely one to put on your list for next year if you love history, dressing up, or simply need an excuse to visit beautiful Bath. We enjoyed the Jane Austen Festival so much that we are now seriously considering joining the parade next year… although this time we might need to find some suitably fabulous costumes. I mean, if you’re going to do a Jane Austen Festival, you might as well go all in, right?
